The Catalyst Group Sponsors National Cycling Championships

The Catalyst Group is delighted to announce our sponsorship of the inaugural Cayman Cycling, Road & Individual Time Trial National Championships.

The event, taking place on the 10th & 17th of July, will see riders from a wide range of age groups and performance categories participate in a series of races that utilize the well-known East End Circuit – a 31km loop beginning at Clifton Hunter, heading towards East End, down the back straight of Queens Highway and a return home southward on Frank Sound Rd.

The National ITT Championship course will be 1 lap (31km) of the circuit for all categories, with athletes setting off at predetermined intervals. The Road Race Championship will feature a mass start for the athletes, with staggered distances for the various categories – Women & Juniors will ride 2 laps (64km), Masters will race for 3 laps (93km), and the U23 & Elite Men will battle it out for 4 laps (124km).

The Cayman Islands have a very dedicated local and expatriate cycling community, and the introduction of this National Championship event provides a forum for athletes to test themselves against the field in hopes of taking home the National Champion Jersey.

The winning athletes in the Women’s Elite, Under 23 & Elite Men’s categories will also have a pathway towards eligibility that could allow them to represent Cayman at the 2022 Caribbean Cycling Championships scheduled for October of this year in Guyana.

Benjamin Reid, Co-Managing Partner and Co-Founder of the Catalyst Group, commented:

We are really proud to be sponsoring the inaugural National Cycling Championships. This is a great opportunity for us to give back to the community, support our talented athletes and to create an opportunity for Cayman to identify the talent that will represent our Islands on the regional and global stage.”
