A Catalyst for Change: Daniel Amorim on Innovation in Private Investment Management

In this exclusive interview, Daniel Amorim—Managing Director at The Catalyst Group—discusses how Catalyst is transforming private investment management for UHNWIs. With a focus on real-time access, digital execution, and next-gen control, Daniel shares what inspired the launch of Catalyst Core and why the future of fiduciary services lies in technology-first solutions.

With over two decades of experience in fiduciary services, including a significant tenure at Itaú, Daniel Amorim has witnessed firsthand the evolving needs of ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) and their advisors.

Now, as he leads the charge in launching a new technology-driven service at The Catalyst Group, he shares his perspective on how the industry must adapt, what makes Catalyst’s approach unique, and why direct control and instant access are critical for today’s private investors.

QUESTION

Daniel, you’ve spent more than 20 years in the fiduciary services space. What key changes have you seen over that time?

"Historically, managing private investment structures was manual, opaque and slow. Investors had to go through layers of intermediaries—lawyers, accountants, and administrators—to make even minor adjustments to their holdings or access basic financial data. The evolution of technology has reshaped expectations. Today’s UHNWIs demand real-time visibility and direct control over their entities. They don’t want to wait days or weeks for information—they expect instant results, intuitive interfaces, and seamless digital experiences."

QUESTION

What was the catalyst—no pun intended—for launching this new technology at The Catalyst Group?

"It became clear that there was a major disconnect between the level of service UHNWIs expected and what the industry was providing. Many still rely on outdated, manual workflows that create unnecessary delays and inefficiencies. We knew there had to be a better way—one that empowers investors with instant access to their private investment structures while maintaining robust security and compliance. Catalyst Core was built to bridge that gap—offering UHNWIs direct access, secure execution, and end-to-end visibility into their private investment companies and IBCs."

QUESTION

How does Catalyst’s approach differ from traditional private investment management?

"The key difference is technology. Most fiduciary firms still operate under a legacy model where clients submit requests and wait for administrators to process them. That’s not acceptable anymore. Our International Business Company (IBC)  or Private Investment Company (PIC) solution in Catalyst Core completely changes the game.
With Core, UHNWIs and their advisors can manage their structures in real-time. They can initiate transactions, approve documents, access performance analytics, and receive instant confirmations—all from a secure, user-friendly interface. It’s about reducing friction, eliminating delays, and giving clients full control over their entities without unnecessary bottlenecks."

QUESTION

How does Core enhance responsiveness and control for UHNWIs?

"Imagine needing to increase capital, authorize a document or incorporate a new entity. Traditionally, you’d have to email an administrator or corporate services provider, wait for them to process the request, and hope that everything gets executed as expected. With Core, investors can make decisions in seconds rather than days. The system automates key processes, ensures compliance, and provides real-time data—so there’s no back-and-forth.
More importantly, UHNWIs want to feel in control of their wealth. They don’t want to operate in the dark or rely on intermediaries for every small action. Core puts them in the driver’s seat, giving them immediate insights and execution capabilities that simply weren’t possible before."

QUESTION

Where do you see the future of private investment management heading?

"We’re moving toward a world where technology removes barriers between investors and their wealth. The old model—where clients are forced to wait on administrators and service providers—is being replaced by instant access, automation, and direct control.
At Catalyst, our goal is to set a new standard. We’re not just offering another service; we’re redefining how UHNWIs interact with their investments. With Core, we’re ensuring that clients have the control, transparency, and speed they deserve."

QUESTION

If you had to sum up Catalyst’s approach in one sentence, what would it be?

"We empower UHNWIs with direct access, real-time control, and seamless execution over their private investment structures—eliminating delays and delivering a next-generation wealth management experience."
