Catalyst appoints Knight to champion crypto and digital asset offering

Andrew Knight

The Catalyst Group (“Catalyst”) has appointed crypto and digital asset expert, Andrew Knight, to help expand the firm’s already successful digital asset team with a view to becoming the definitive provider of choice for crypto and virtual asset funds.

Andrew, who holds a BCom Honours degree and is both a CFA and CAIA charter holder, joins Catalyst from Invictus Capital where he was among the earliest employees to join the firm. He was pivotal in building out and managing their crypto-centric venture capital and mutual funds.

Prior to that, Andrew garnered more than a decade’s worth of experience across both front and back-office roles. Andrew started his career in fund administration, managing the offshore hedge fund team for Maitland. He was later appointed as the Head of Operations at Morningstar Investment Management, which specialized in discretionary portfolio management for private wealth clients across South Africa and abroad.

Catalyst was an early entrant into the digital asset fund administration space, reacting to the demands of clients who were unable to find adequate support from many of the established administrators. In order to service its clients’ evolving strategies and investment portfolios, Catalyst’s specialist digital asset team has created a proprietary platform to track and reconcile an expansive portfolio of coins, tokens, and digital assets, including Decentralized Finance (DeFi) products, in real-time.

Catalyst’s expertise and experience in this space, alongside a background in traditional alternative investment fund services has resulted in pioneering partnerships that continue to set industry firsts, including the launch of the world’s first regulated, tokenized fund structure.

Andrew’s appointment marks the start of an exciting new chapter for Catalyst.

Welcome aboard Andrew.
